Event Details

The Central Region TAY UnConvention is a chance for TAY providers, TAY Peer Mentors/Advocates, family members and those interested in working in mental health to learn from each other and share our strengths and struggles about how to best support young adults in the Central Region of California It is an opportunity for people interested in youth and young adults in the Central Region to meet and learn from each other across: generations, counties, agencies, systems (e.g., Foster Care) and backgrounds.  It is a chance to understand how to best recruit, hire, and support TAY youth and TAY peer mentors/advocates and, let's not forget to HAVE SOME FUN!

The day will feature networking activities, a TAY peer mentor/advocate panel, creative arts and small groups focused on topics such as housing, trauma and substance abuse (to be determined by participants).

Check out and "LIKE" the Central Region TAY UnConvention Facebook Page here: http://www.facebook.com/MyTAYConnection

There is a lot to know, so please read this entire page to be well-informed!  We are asking you to do at least three (3) things:  register, complete a separate survey(see e-mail that this event was linked from), and separately, e-mail us information about you (see e-mail that this event was linked from).  Please complete the survey soon!  Also, please register at least one week before the event.

We are looking for a pretty equal mix of TAY Youth/Peer Mentors/Advocates and TAY providers.  We also want to be sure to get people from across the region, so we ask that each county send a maximum of 20 people--including from provider agencies, so when you spread the word, keep this in mind...

What's In It For Me?!:

At the conclusion of the UnConvention, participants will be able to:

1.)  Identify new resources/ideas/contacts for addressing the needs of TAY youth and TAY Peer Mentors/Advocates in their communities and agencies;

2.) Share information, tools and expertise with peers and colleagues; and,

3.)  Learn how to hire, support, and effectively utilize TAY Peer Mentors/Advocates
